My reaction in the movie titled Die Hard 4

John McTiernan has directed over 10 movies. He has also directed huge headline movies such as Die Hard, Die Hard 3 (with vengeance) however surprisingly; he didn't direct or produce Die hard 2. He also has directed 'Roller ball', the 'Last Action Hero' and the smash hit 'Predator'. John McTiernan has also produced over 10 other films; these include 'Amanda', 'Die Hard 1' & 'Die Hard 3' and the movie 'Robin Hood'. He is currently in pre-production of the long awaited 'Die Hard 4' that is due for release in 2006.

The story tells the tale of tough guy, John McClane, who is from the New York police department. He has decided to go to Los Angeles to spend Christmas with his family. When John arrives in LA, he decides to go spend some time with his wife Holly and therefore he goes to the Nakatomi Plaza Hotel for Holly's Christmas party with all her colleges. While the party is going on, a group of German terrorists decide to take everyone hostage and collect over 600 million dollars worth of bonds from the volt in the basement. The terrorists take everyone hostage except for one man John McClane. The man who decides to take things into his own hands to protect the life of his wife and the other hostages involved.

In my opinion the movie was a great success. I was sitting on the edge of my seat from the first scene of the movie until the end. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. The movies storyline was quite easy to follow which was great, considering the era when the movie was made.

The only let down was the quality of the camera work within the movie. The camera work could have been a little better but I believe this was understandable due to the fact that the technology was not as good then as it is now.

The movie colour was dark but that is what I expected. I believe in most action films your do not normally see bright colors because bright colors lighten the effect. It is normally dark when the power is turned off and this was also the case in this movie. I believe the darkness added to the excitement level of the movie. As I said above, the camera work wasn't really that good however under the circumstances it was understandable.

The settings were very good. Everything was appropriate to the story and was very realistic. The director did a great job and should be very pleased with the end product. I believe some scenes were a little vague in some sections of the movie however quite specific in others.

The main character John McClane was played exceptionally well by Bruce Willis. I believe he didn't over act, which is quite easy to do, in some action/thriller movies. Bonnie Bendelia who played Holly Gennero-McClane in the movie also did a great job. I believe the part she had in the movie was very well acted.

I believe all the actors were very good and suitable to the roles within the movie. I also think that they portrayed their roles in a believable manner, which made the movie enjoyable to watch. I found most characters likable in some way or another and some quite endearing. The director has done a great job in directing the movie and also selection of actors for roles was outstanding.

There was no sound track of any real significance during this movie. I believe this however suits most action-films, as it is not required. I believe by not having a sound track this was a great idea; it helped your think and in my opinion kept me more intrigued.

I would recommend this movie to any hardcore action fanatics. Although if you were a great action movie follower, you would most likely have already seen this movie. Even if you don't love action films, this movie is still worthwhile seeing because it is a classic.

I believe this movie 'Die Hard' will be seen for many years to come because of the enjoyment value.

I would give this a 9 out of 10- it is superb.
